asmPolitics-337 [Nancy Pelosi Criticizes Christian Republicans]

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 26, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi maligned traditional, hard-working Americans last week, slamming them as hypocritical oppressors.
Questioned about the disconnect that white, working-class voters feel between themselves and the Democratic Party, the California Democrat lashed out. She cast her party as righteous saviors against traditional, patriotic Americans and painted Republicans, people of faith, and pro-lifers as phonies who victimize others.
“They pray in church on Sunday and then prey on people the rest of the week,” she stated. “And while we’re doing the Lord’s work by ministering to the needs of God’s creation, they are ignoring those needs, which is to dishonor the God who made them.”
Pelosi appeared on the MSNBC Morning Joe program just before President Donald Trump was sworn in last Friday. She responded defensively to Joe Scarborough asking how Democrats could win back white working-class voters who think that the party looks down at them.
“There is a feeling, there’s a disconnect between today’s Democratic Party and white working-class voters,” Scarborough posed to Pelosi. “How do Democrats, who have the right policies economically in their minds, how do they reconnect with a middle America who feels like sometimes they’re looked down upon because of their faith or their values?”
She projected the divide on to rural Americans, saying they felt culturally isolated and were mistaken about Democrats and faith.
“They don’t think that Democrats are people of faith,” Pelosi stated, “when the fact is that we are.”
Democrats and liberals, along with the media, have continued to struggle to explain why everyday Americans were not with them in supporting Hillary Clinton during the election.
Pelosi, who identifies as Catholic, has for years portrayed her faith in bizarre fashioncontinually supporting abortion and homosexual “marriage.”
Pelosi, who has a 100 percent voting record from Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America, said last August that she supported Planned Parenthood funding in a Zika aid bill because of her love for babies, also saying last year that investigating Planned Parenthood for trafficking in fetal remains was “un-American.”
In 2015, she claimed that homosexual “marriage” was consistent with Catholicism. Asked about late-term abortion in 2013, Pelosi responded, "As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this."
Talking with Scarborough last week about the current disconnect between Democrats and Middle America, she opined that Democrats are mistakenly identified as not having faith because they don’t flaunt it. She added that the same was true for her party not being especially known for patriotism.
“So we don’t wear our religion on our sleeve, and maybe we should,” she said. “We don’t wrap ourselves in the flag, but maybe we should.”
“But we don’t, as I say, exploit that (faith),” Pelosi said. “Because we don’t think you’re supposed to. But maybe we have to make it clearer.”
