asmPolitics-263 [Candace Owens Comments On Baltimore]

When Candace Owens gets worked up, there are really only two options: Step out of the way, or get ready to be steamrolled by logic and righteous indignation.
Owens has become one of the fastest-rising conservative stars of the last few years, frequently obliterating opponents on talk shows and on Twitter. On Monday, she did just that during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” while taking on Democratic strategist Monique Pressley.
The debate centered on Baltimore, particularly President Donald Trump’s recent harsh words about the Democrat-run city. While many on the left screamed “racism” after Trump called out the literal rats “infesting” the city, Owens defended the president for telling the blunt truth.
“Could you send a different type of tweet?” Ingraham asked, referring to the president’s posts which inflamed his opponents. “Could you send a different type of message? Is that part of the problem?”
“No, it’s not. Because we’ve seen people do that in the past, we’ve seen Republicans kowtow to the Democrats every time that they turn around and they say somebody is a racist, they cower,” Owens replied.
Owens later scolded voices on the left who are defending Baltimore’s obvious problems and pointed out that living in denial only hurts minorities such as herself.
“Do not defend Baltimore as a city. Don’t do that to black America,” she blasted. “They’re leading in homicides. They’re leading in rape. They’re leading in sexual assault. Black Americans are suffering in this city.”
It depends exactly how you measure it, but the facts back her up. “Baltimore is the big city with the highest per capita murder rate in the nation, with nearly 56 murders per 100,000 people,” USA Today reported last year. “At 343 murders in 2017, the city tallied the highest per capita rate in its history.”
In a follow-up post to her official Twitter account, Owens implied that the only reason Democrats are acting shocked about the president’s comments is because their dislike of Trump blinds them to everything else.
“If you are an American and you are defending the state of Baltimore you should be ashamed of yourself,” she wrote. “Outright ASHAMED that your senseless hatred from [Donald Trump] is of more importance than SAVING our struggling inner-city kids.”
Once again, Owens is absolutely right. Anybody who has even a basic grip on reality knows Baltimore is in trouble — and a pile of facts shows that like it or not, the president was telling the unfortunate truth about that city.
While Democrats and the media acted as if they had cases of the vapors over Trump’s “infested” comments referring to rats, its own residents know all too well that he wasn’t exaggerating. His main sin seems to be telling the truth when nobody else will, while the evidence is in plain sight for anybody to see.
This is the exact same pattern we saw when the president threw liberals into hysterics last year with his “s—hole” comments about third world countries. It may have been blunt, but anyone who has visited places like Somalia, El Salvador, or Haiti knows that they are fundamentally true.
But in the bizarre world of 2019, merely saying what everyone knows to be true is a daring and subversive act. Luckily, people like Candace Owens are starting to question the narrative. It’s about time.
