Recent court filings reveal more details in the tragic fate of a family of three that was murdered in south Alabama.
Hector Argueta-Guerra has been charged with killing Aurelia Choc, 40, and her two children, Niurka Choc, 17, and Anthony Garcia, 2, following their disappearance on January 30.
Officials found three bodies believed to be those of the family buried in a wooded area near Summerdale in south Baldwin County on March 11.
Guerra has been charged with three counts of capital murder during the course of kidnapping, three counts of capital murder during the course of burglary, capital murder for the death of two or more people, capital murder for the murder of a child under the age of 14, three counts of abuse of a corpse and obstruction of justice.
According to complaint filings, Guerra allegedly knowingly and unlawfully entered the family’s Theodore home armed with an “edged weapon“ and kidnapped them with the intent to commit sexual or physical harm.
Guerra is accused of killing Aurelia by inflicting sharp force trauma to her chest and back.
He also allegedly murdered the children through trauma to Anthony’s head along with inflicting deadly sharp force trauma on Niurka.
Their bodies were wrapped in plastic and bedding and left in makeshift graves, the complaints state.
Officials previously have said that both the alleged killer and the victims were in the country undocumented, and that Guerra had an extensive criminal history.
A judge ordered that Guerra be held with no bond and has set a preliminary hearing for April 6.
